Americans have a shorter life expectancy compared to almost all other high-income countries. We spend the most on healthcare but don’t even rank in the top 50 countries in life expectancy. The U.S. also has the highest overall rate of chronic disease, with roughly 60 percent of adults managing at least one chronic condition.
Our immune systems are failing us and conditions like Chronic Fatigue are rampant. As a country, we are not faring well at wellness. We are sick, we are tired, and as a rule, we just don’t feel good.
At Balanced Health & Wellness, the care we offer is not designed to simply treat symptoms once you are sick, but rather we focus on prevention of illness, promoting longevity and optimizing health.
We should be your first stop for Longevity and Biohacking Treatments. Our highly trained, compassionate team at Balanced Health & Wellness offers expertise and years of experience with a Functional Medicine approach to lifelong health and wellness. Optimal health and longevity are primarily derailed by chronic non-communicable diseases, preventable lifestyle behaviors, and environmental stressors that accelerate cellular aging. While genetics do establish a baseline, research shows that everyday habits dictate up to 70 percent of your biological aging rate and overall lifespan.
Our Functional Medicine approach takes a comprehensive look at all of these clinical, lifestyle, hormonal, genetic and environmental factors and how they impact you – and each other. Some of the most common factors recognized for their deleterious impact on optimal health and longevity include:
With a patient-centered approach focused on root causes, our goal is to bring you the most current scientific advances – in nutrition, gut health, genetics and more - not simply to treat illness and disease, but to achieve optimal health and longevity.
Longevity Biohacking is the practice of utilizing the latest science, data and lifestyle changes to slow aging and increase your lifespan. But more importantly, it seeks to extend what is called your health span, or the years you live in good health. The focus of Longevity and Biohacking Treatments include a wide span of strategies like:
From sleep optimization to hormone optimization, an array of Longevity and Biohacking Treatments is available at Balanced Health & Wellness.
Hormone Optimization (BHRT): Hormone optimization (estrogen, testosterone, and progesterone) is a commonly utilized tool for functional longevity, seeking to preserve metabolic health and physical strength together with enhanced cognitive function. For personalized precision, a Longevity/Biohacking approach employs comprehensive blood, saliva, or urine testing to track precise hormone concentrations. Unlike conventional hormone treatments, BHRT utilizes plant-derived compounds molecularly identical to human hormones that can be customized with precise dosages to match your unique metabolic profile. Hormone optimization options include:
Gut Health: Your gut microbiome directly regulates metabolic health and biological aging. As you age, “biome-aging” occurs, a process where your microbial diversity naturally declines. Gut health is one of the core pillars in Longevity and Biohacking Treatments. Strategies target the gut to extend your healthspan and prevent age-related chronic diseases, including those impacting cognitive function.
Sleep Optimization: Sleep optimization serves as a longevity biohacking tool because your body and brain conduct essential waste removal, cellular repair and metabolic regulation exclusively during REM and deep sleep.
IV Vitamin Therapy: IV vitamin therapy is considered a form of Longevity Biohacking because it utilizes a technology-driven intervention to bypass evolutionary digestive constraints. It effectively targets the cellular mechanisms of aging, optimizing human biology and enhancing your healthspan. Oral vitamins have limitations like poor absorption, first-pass liver metabolism and stomach acid breakdown. IV vitamin therapy, on the other hand, provides almost 100 percent bioavailability, placing nutrients directly into the bloodstream, ensuring immediate cellular use.
Vitamin Injections: Compared to IV Vitamin Therapy, vitamin injections have similar benefits for Longevity Biohacking but are much quicker to administer and usually involve a single nutrient rather than a cocktail of nutrients. IV nutrients enter the bloodstream immediately, while injected nutrients go into the muscle first and absorb into the blood a bit more slowly over time. Both enable almost 100 percent bioavailability as compared to oral supplementation, which only offers 20 to 40 percent.
All of our Longevity and Biohacking Treatments that involve IV Vitamin Therapy or Vitamin Injections are administered by licensed nurses under medical supervision.
Functional Medicine is designed to be a lifelong, collaborative partnership between doctor and patient where, together, we seek to understand the function of all your bodily systems as an essential aspect of increasing your lifespan and especially your healthspan.
At your initial consultation, we will take a medical history and review any medications, supplements or herbal medications you’re taking, as well as assess any current medical needs you may have. A functional evaluation of your health typically involves a full physical exam that includes a review of your hormone function and other necessary testing. Your initial consultation may take longer than your ongoing Longevity/Biohacking sessions since we conduct a full medical evaluation and develop your treatment plan.
Depending on the treatment option you choose, you can come in seasonally, monthly or as needed. Treatments can be customized in line with your overall health and specific medical needs.
In designing a personalized treatment plan for Longevity and Biohacking, our aim is to understand your individual experience, health symptoms and wellness goals all in context. With this information in hand, we then work with you to develop an approach that may include not only our specialized drips and injections, hormone replacement, sleep optimization and more, but also any of the following:
While the goal of your treatment plan is to optimize your immunity, lifelong health, wellness and longevity, it can also be effective in addressing specific medical conditions, especially where other approaches have failed.
Since it is largely preventative in nature, everyone can benefit from Longevity and Biohacking Treatments even if you are not sick. If you are experiencing frequent illnesses, are slow to recover, or exhibit certain chronic symptoms, you especially need to be evaluated to see if you might benefit.
While it depends on your individual health issues, goals, lifestyle and stress levels, you will be evaluated and you and Dr. Rutman together will determine which treatments are most advantageous to you.
Most of these treatments are not covered by insurance.
Your personalized treatment plan will be designed just for you – with your input and step-by-step involvement. For more questions about our approach to Longevity and Biohacking, reach out to one of our caring team members today. Call us at ☎ (631) 600-7950.
